In addition to guided raft and rowboat outings, CCFS offers seasonal, shore-based, one-on-one and small group fishing instruction. Whether you’re a skilled angler in town for a work trip, or a local parent looking for a fun, shore-based afternoon of fishing with your child, CCFS can provide a creative solution to match your specific needs. CCFS utilizes an Outcast Sporting Gear (AIRE) PAC 1400 raft with custom fishing frame for float trips. CCFS also utilizes Fletcher’s Boathouse rowboats for local shad fishing outings at Fletcher’s Cove.
CCFS uses Shimano or Daiwa reels and St. Croix, Fenwick, or custom built rods for most smallmouth, panfish, and shad applications. We use the lightest tackle possible to maximize bite detection. CCFS uses heavy duty custom rods and Daiwa reels for live and cut bait applications.
CCFS recommends that you dress for the weather. From late October through mid-April (weather dependent), chest waders, dry pants, or bibs, coupled with either wading boots, flats style booties, or deck boots are recommended while on the raft (no spikes on the raft, please). From late April through early October, lightweight fishing pants or shorts, sun shirts or hoodies, and water shoes or flats booties are ideal for raft outings. Please dress in layers, and always bring a rain or splash jacket. Polarized sunglasses, hats, and sunscreen are also highly recommended. Swim breaks may be an option on summer floats – if so, a change of clothes is recommended. As always, it is better to have layers and not need them, than to need them and not have them.
Yes, you will need an appropriate fishing license for the body of water we plan on fishing (either DC, MD, or VA). We will discuss this prior to your trip.
CCFS utilizes USCG Type III personal flotation devices (PFD’s) from NRS on all raft outings. The raft is equipped with a throw rope, first aid kit, and multiple dry bags to secure your belongings. Remember, PFD’s only work when you wear them!
A 50% deposit is due upon scheduling of any float trip that CCFS offers, with the remainder due upon completion of the trip. Your deposit secures your date. In the event of severe weather, highly unfavorable and/or “unfishable” river levels, or other unexpected disruptions (as determined CCFS), CCFS will work with you to reschedule your outing, or apply the deposit to a future trip should the original trip selection of your choice not be feasible. For any shore-based instruction, payment is due upon completion of outing.
CCFS currently accepts cash, checks, or Venmo. Please make checks payable to Chris Campo (Memo: Fishing Services). Cash or check preferred.
